About Andy Cunningham

My name is Andrew Cunningham, though I generally go by Andy. Wellbeing Wanderer Yorkshire is my private practice, so whether you have come across the practice name or my full name, you are in the right place.

Andy Cunningham, therapist at Wellbeing Wanderer Yorkshire

I offer psychological therapy for adults experiencing difficulties such as PTSD, insomnia, anxiety and depression. My aim is to provide a space where you can speak openly, think clearly about what is happening, and begin to work towards change in a way that feels realistic and meaningful.

I bring years of experience from work in the NHS. Before moving into my current role, I worked as a social worker for 11 years and later as an assistant service manager. During that time, I worked with adults experiencing mental health difficulties, children and adults with disabilities, and older adults.

"That background has shaped the way I work — a grounded understanding of how emotional and psychological difficulties sit within the wider reality of people's lives."

That includes their relationships, responsibilities, health, history and the pressures they are carrying.

As a therapist, I aim to be warm, approachable and non-judgemental. People often come to therapy feeling uncertain, guarded or unsure how much to say at first, so I try to offer a space that feels calm, open-minded and respectful from the outset.

I know that some people arrive with a clear idea of what they want help with, while others only know that something is not working or that they are not feeling like themselves. You do not need to have everything neatly explained before beginning.

Alongside understanding the immediate problem, I am also interested in the wider patterns and experiences that may be shaping it.
